Mayorazgo Palace

Its façade is sumptuous and in the style of Herrera. It was built in the seventeenth century. The main façade comprises two bodies, the first one with twin columns of the Tuscan order on both sides of the rectangular doorway. The second one has two fluted shaft Tuscan pilasters. It is topped with a triangular pediment containing a shield with a helmet and symbols of the Núñez de Prado family. At the top, a square balcony with traditional Mudejar elements, three semicircular arches framed by an alfiz, and a styled roof. We identify in its interior two colonnaded courtyards, and large paneled rooms, remaining from its past splendors. It now houses the Municipal Department of Culture and its various spaces are dedicated to temporary or permanent exhibitions, such as the “Room of the Miller’s Wife and the Magistrate” and the “Room of Antonio the Dancer”, the “Poets and Writers Corner” or the “Victor Marín Foundation Room”. In its lower part the Municipal Art Gallery and the Andalusian Garden are located.
